Celebrate National Farmers Day

October 12 is National Farmers Day! While we don’t condone the cruel practices of animal farming, we wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate those farmers that produce the amazing fruits, vegetables, and grain that nourish us.

These farmers work tirelessly to provide food for us and our precious pups, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate these hard workers than to spotlight some of their amazing products that we use in our plant-based dog food.

Produce We Use In Our Dog Food

Sweet Potatoes - Sweet potatoes are loaded with fiber, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, so it is not surprising they provide many health benefits to our precious pups. The most notable of these vitamins? Vitamin A. Vitamin A helps keep your dog’s eyes and immune system healthy and functioning, and benefits the heart, kidneys and reproductive system as well.

Flaxseeds - Flaxseeds are a rich source of dietary fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential fatty acids important in brain and eye function and joint health.

Chickpeas - Chickpeas are one of nature's true superfoods. They add energy-boosting carbohydrates, essential amino acids, and beneficial nutrients including potassium, magnesium, folate (an important B vitamin) and vitamin A. Most notably, they are high in choline, which prevents inflammation and conditions such as arthritis.

Oats - Oats contain vitamin B and omega-6 fatty acids, both of which contribute to healthy skin and coat. They are also a rich source of healthy dietary fibers and energy.

Blueberries - Blueberries are an amazing source of antioxidants, which work to protect your dog’s body from free radicals, which can damage DNA and cause inflammation, leading to aging, impaired brain function and chronic diseases such as cancer. They are also rich in fiber and a good source of calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and vitamin K.

Potatoes - Potatoes are highly digestible by dogs and are a great source of protein, which helps to support strong muscles and promote a healthy immune system.

Sunflower Oil- Sunflower oil is rich in essential omega-6 fatty acids, which aid in maintaining a healthy skin and coat, and support the immune system.

Cranberries - Cranberries are rich in antioxidants and nutrients to maintain a healthy immune system. They are also a good source of vitamin C, potassium, and fiber.

Pumpkin - Pumpkin is a well-known ingredient that helps a dog's digestion. It is a fiber-rich food that also contains important vitamins and minerals, such as vitamins A, E, and C, and potassium and iron.

Spinach - Spinach contains large amounts of vitamins A, B, C, and K. It is also packed with iron, antioxidants, beta-carotene, and dietary fiber, which aids digestion.

Here at Wild Earth, we choose each of our ingredients for a reason, making sure to use high-quality, clean, and sustainable ingredients to create a nutritionally complete and balanced, plant-based kibble that will keep your dog happy and healthy for years to come.
